WASHINGTON – A felony lane suspect choked a K9 police dog during his arrest in Marion County.
Recently, James Rutledge Jr. burglarized a vehicle that was parked at a day care. After smashing the window of the car he stole a purse and bank cards that he used at a Walmart.
Ocala Police Department located Rutledge and attempted a traffic stop.
Rutledge fled from the Ocala Police Department and found his way into the county. During the pursuit, Rutledge lost control of the vehicle and crashed…and proceeded to flee on foot.
K9 Cpl. Colton Sullivan and his partner K9 Adelmo responded and after a long track Adelmo located Rutledge.
When Adelmo tried apprehending Rutledge, he began choking Adelmo, pressing his head onto the ground.
Deputy Kip Peterson had to utilize his taser in order to get Rutledge to release Adelmo’s neck.
