TEXAS: US Border Patrol arrest suspected undocumented smuggler in Burger King El Paso

EL PASO, Texas — A video posted on social media shows Border Patrol agents attempting to arrest a man inside a Burger King located at 5431 Alameda Ave. in Fox Plaza.

In the video, the agents used a taser to try to subdue the man Tuesday night.

Officials with Border Patrol said the man is a suspected undocumented smuggler.

The video shows agents telling the man numerous times to get on the floor and to not resist arrest.

Border Patrol officials said the agents were notified by the El Paso Police Department that a person reported suspicious individuals on his property.

Agents working in conjunction with El Paso police officers encountered four people matching the description provided.

All four were taken into custody without incident for investigation of immigration violations.

Shortly afterward, the citizen again called law enforcement and said that a suspicious vehicle was parked at his home and that the driver had walked away.

Officials said that tactic is commonly used by undocumented smuggling organizations.

Border Patrol officials said they found the man at Burger King and questioned him. Officials said records indicated the man was in the country illegally and had a criminal history.

Officials said the man refused to cooperate with the verbal instructions and tried to avoid being handcuffed and a struggle ensued.

Border Patrol officials said agents deployed a taser to control the man. The man was then taken into custody.
