Police release bodycam video of shooting that left Reginald Alexander Jr. dead in Dallas

DALLAS — Newly-released bodycam video shows tense moments leading up to the fatal shooting of Reginald Alexander Jr. on the evening of November 5, 2020.

It all started with officers investigating a suspicious car located in the 700 block of Elm Street when they came upon Alexander, police said.

During their investigation, they determined Alexander had an outstanding warrant.

Video shows the 25-year-old pull out a handgun as police officers tried to arrest him outside a 7-Eleven in the West End neighborhood.

The man and police then exchanged gunfire, police said.

Both the suspect and an El Centro College police officer were struck and were taken to area hospitals. The suspect later died of his injuries.

The officer has been listed in stable condition and has since been released.

The Dallas Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit is investigating.
