Man shot during argument inside Queens deli

Yesterday afternoon, police officers responded to 136 Deli & Grill on Springfield Blvd in Queens for a man shot.

Video shows the perpetrator, identified as Jeffrey Thurston, start a verbal argument with 20-year-old Malachi Capers, as he attempts to walk past him.

The argument then escalates into a physical confrontation when Thurston punches the victim in the face. 

Capers quickly stands and chases Thurston from the deli.

Surveillance video outside captures Capers tackling Thurston to the sidewalk.

Video released by police cuts ahead to the two men standing on the sidewalk.

Moments later, Thurston pulls out a gun and shoots Capers in the abdomen and runs off.

Capers was taken to Jamaica Hospital in critical condition. He is expected to survive, sources said.

Thurston is still on the run.
