Columbia Police officer suspended without pay after using N word during confrontation in Five Points

COLUMBIA, South Carolina — The Columbia Police Department has suspended a police officer without pay who was recorded on camera using the N word in Columbia’s Five Points.

Columbia Police said in a statement it “sincerely apologizes for the inappropriate, disrespectful words, behavior and actions of Sgt. Chad Walker.”

Sgt. Walker has been suspended without pay pending an internal review of the incident.
