A Florida sheriff’s deputy was stabbed in the neck Sunday by a man who fled from police after he was told he was being committed to a mental health facility.
Bodycam video released shows Deputy Charles Williams confronting 21-year-old Nicolas Furgason, who had stopped in a wooded area in Lithia.
When Williams tries to detain him, the 21-year-old can be seen lunging his left arm toward the cop’s neck.
“He stabbed me, he’s got a knife!” the officer yells as Furgason takes off running again.
Williams catches up to Furgason and strikes him with his Taser, footage shows.
Williams orders Ferguson to “drop the knife” and to “throw it to the side”.
“Put your hands behind your back now,” he is also heard screaming — orders Furgason follows before other cops arrive to help Williams take him into custody.
Furgason was charged with attempted felony murder of a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer with violence and resisting an officer without violence.
Williams was released from the hospital Monday.
