At least 74 migrants died in a shipwreck on Thursday off the coast of Khums, Libya, the United Nations’ International Organization for Migration (IOM) said.
According to the IOM, there were more than 120 people on board the dingy when the “devastating” incident took place.
Footage of the incident shows a migrant crying out for her six-month-old son lost in sea.
‘Did you see my baby? I lose my baby! Why me? Where is my baby?’ The woman from Guinea shrieks in the video.
Her baby, Joseph, was eventually pulled from the waves by Spanish rescuers but died aboard their ship of respiratory arrest.
The Libyan coastguard and fisherman rescued 47 people, according to the IOM.
According to the IOM, there were more than 120 people on board the dingy when the incident took place.
This is at least the eighth shipwreck that occurred in the Central Mediterranean since October 1, according to online reports.
