Airstrike leaves three Taliban fighters and a child dead

GHAZNI, AFGHANISTAN – At least three Taliban fighters and a child were killed on Sunday in an airstrike in Andar.

The airstrike was called in when a U.S. military and Afghan force partnered mission was fired on by rocket-propelled grenades and small arms fire.

The RPG fire from a nearby compound struck one of the patrol vehicles, disabling it without injury to its crew.

“Once the threat was eliminated by a precision strike, ground forces were able to enter the compound,” the statement said.

The Afghan and U.S. forces frequently carry out operations and airstrikes against the militants in the restive parts of Ghazni, where militants often attempt to conduct terrorist related activities.
